Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Ikram Ranjha rejected the plea of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) to grant physical remand of former member provincial assembly Chaudhry Sarfraz Afzal in a case of illegal sale of plots.
Instead, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) ex-MPA Afzal was sent to Adiala Jail on a two -week judicial remand.
A team of the ACE-Rawalpindi, led by its Assistant Director Zahid Zahoor, conducted a raid on an Airport Road property and arrested Afzal.
After his arrest, Afzal complained of chest pain and he was subsequently transferred to the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC). After an initial checkup, he was admitted to the hospital for treatment. Afzal through the alleged collusion of RDA officers, illegally sold plots in the Palm City Housing Society in Mouza Kot Jabi without the approval of the authority and defrauded the public of huge sums of money.
