Information dept to be revamped as per modern needs

Awan said that the authorities have planned to set up an ‘Information Academy’ in the province

Punjab Information Department would be reorganized in accordance with the contemporary trends to maintain pace with the modern times, Special Assistant to Chief Minister (SACM) Punjab on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Tuesday while presiding over a meeting at the DGPR Headquarters.

She emphasised on the importance of capacity building along with digitalization to improve the department’s performance.

Awan said that the authorities have planned to set up an ‘Information Academy’ in the province and specialized training courses would be arranged for information officers and journalists of private institutions.

While presiding over the meeting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan directed the officials concerned to launch FM radio and YouTube channels to highlight the performance of the provincial government in a befitting manner.

The SACM on Information lauded the role of media in providing awareness to the masses.
