Pindi police get high-tech patrol vehicles

Pickups equipped with trackers, anti-car lifting software, video calling facilities

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi police received some 30 well-equipped patrol vehicles from the Punjab government on Sunday.

The provincial government will facilitate the police in crime control, said Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat at the handing over ceremony of the patrol vehicles held at Rawalpindi Police Lines.

The minister said that the new vehicles are equipped with trackers, anti-car lifting software, criminal records, wireless system, video calling, and other facilities.

He said that the police departments across the province are being given 500 patrol vehicles to improve police work.

Basharat said that provincial government is making efforts to transform Rawalpindi and Faisalabad into safe cities.

The minister said that the previous governments criticised the police but did not facilitate the institution, adding the incumbent provincial government has produced better results despite limited resources.

The policemen who laid their lives in the line of duty are our heroes, he added.

Further, Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer (RPO) Imran Ahmer hailed the law minister by saying that it was due to his efforts that the police got different allowances and new recruitments were done.

He also thanked the minister for the provision of new patrolling vehicles to each police station of Rawalpindi.

The minister also laid flowers on the martyrs’ monument and offered prayers during his visit to the Rawalpindi Police Lines. Basharat also penned his views in the visitors’ book while visiting Rawalpindi police martyrs’ gallery.
