Five neighbourhoods go into lockdown

Notification issued to seal Sectors I-8/3, I-8/4, G-9/1, G-10/4 and G-6/2

Five subsectors of the capital city will go under smart lockdown from Monday morning and the city authorities increase efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Acting on the recommendation of the District Health Office (DHO), Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat has ordered to seal five sub-sectors following emergences of Covid-19 infections.

The DC office has issued a formal notification to seal sectors I-8/3, I-8/4, G-9/1, G-10/4 and G-6/2 on Monday at 10am.

Police of the precincts concerned will cordon off the five sub-sectors. People have been advised to buy supplies and food items.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Administration (ICTA) has arrested 125 individuals and sealed 77 shops over non-compliance of anti-coronavirus Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across the city during the last week.

The authorities imposed fine worth Rs191,500 on shopkeepers in 1,1,62 inspections, an ICTA spokesman said on Sunday.

He said ICTA has sealed four hotels, nine restaurants and three wedding halls during the week.

The teams of law enforcement agencies including police, rangers and officials of district administration intensified action against those who were not wearing facemasks in commercial markets and other public places to keep the deadly virus at bay, the spokesman said.

Islamabad DC had imposed section 144 for a period of two months to control the second wave of Covid-19.

Assistant Commissioner City apprehended 18 people and sealed 19 shops. AC-Rural arrested 17 people sealed 14 shops. AC secretariat and Koral held 39 people and sealed 26 shops including four restaurants.

Similarly, AC Potohar arrested four people, sealed 13 shops and five restaurants. AC Shalimar held 27 individuals and sealed three shops.

AC Saddar-Zone booked 20 people for not wearing mask and sealed six shops.

The ICTA teams also checked 97 mosques, 88 wedding halls to ensure the compliance of anti-Covid-19 SOPs during the week.
