Over two months after the last monsoon rainstorm struck Mirpurkhas, the district administration is still grappling with the challenge of draining rainwater from submerged residential and agricultural areas.

Mirpurkhas commissioner Abdul Waheed Shaikh, who chaired a meeting in this regard on Saturday, formed a committee to survey the colonies, urban areas and agricultural fields that remain inundated. The committee will also be given a timeframe to drain the water. The commissioner said that culverts should be built under the roads, which had been cut to drain the water. He further asked the committee to devise a mechanism so that no villages or localities were harmed during the drainage of other areas.
