A seven year-old girl who was brought to Liaquat University Hospital with her throat slit actually lost her life in a road accident on a stretch of the National Highway, Hyderabad SSP Adeel Hussain Chandio told the media on Thursday.
He said the car in which the girl, Umaima, and her family were travelling was hit by another car from behind when their vehicle suddenly slowed down over a speed breaker. The impact caused the air bags to open, pushing a sharp toy in Umaima's hand towards her neck, he added.
The speed breaker is built on top of an incline on the artery connecting Wadhu Wah Road with the Qasim Chowk.
At the time of the incident Umaima's mother, an aunt, a cousin, a servant and a driver were in the car with her.
The deceased child was the daughter of an excise inspector, Umair Jamali, who is the nephew of Rafique Jamali, a Pakistan Peoples Party MNA from Dadu. The family was reluctant to permit the postmortem but agreed with the SSP’s persuasion.
