With the month of Rabiul Awal still ongoing, a day-long workshop on Islamic calligraphy was held.
The workshop had been organised by the Punjab Council of the Arts-Rawalpindi in collaboration with the Takhliqee Forum \to promote Islamic art. Renowned calligrapher and the winner of the Presidential Award, Elahi Bakhsh Mattee trained students from different universities during the workshop.
He delivered a special lecture on the history of Islamic calligraphy to students and gave the context for its past, present and future.
He also gave practical training on the different styles of calligraphy.
Later, at the end of the workshop, PUCAR Director Waqar Ahmed distributed certificates amongst participants. He said that calligraphy is fundamental in Islamic arts.
