October 31, 2020

The Coronavirus pandemic certainly took a toll on us and has had a huge impact on industries worldwide. As fears of rising Covid rates swirled out of control, it became increasingly difficult to predict the impact the pandemic would have on the fashion industry. Many design houses and brands rushed to restructure their models almost immediately, while many opted for virtual fashion shows. The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic has been hard hitting on the industry and its effects are now coming into play. It is evident from the design processes adopted by these fashion houses, how immensely the pandemic has had an impact. And with that being said, here are some trends to look out as winter approaches.

All Black Everything

Not that all black silhouettes ever went out of style, but this time around, they’re back with a bang. Balenciaga, Valentino, Givenchy and Dolce & Gabbana are just some of the brands that opened their shows with all black everything. Hues of black were also seen in collections by Chanel, Ralph & Russo, Lanvin and Rochas and it really doesn’t get more elegant than black. For those who swear by black, this season is for you, because this winter; black is the new black.

.Oversized Knits

This trend will be your best friend all winter long and is a wardrobe staple every girl should have! If you don’t have your own oversized cardi or sweater, then just steal your dad’s! These knits are great for layering and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Wear it over a button down with the collar protruding, or wear it over a tank to keep your look casual. Oversized knits are versatile and will always be on trend!

The Belted Blazer

Ah the classic blazer! There’s nothing we love more than throwing on a blazer over a cashmere sweater or a light knit but this time, blazers are back with a twist; or should we say with a belt rather. Power suits and the tailoring trend continue to reign supreme and now the classic blazer has been revived with a simple yet impactful accessory, a belt. Belted blazers were given prominence in the collections of Prada, Miu Miu and Carolina Herrera and now a number of local brands have also made belted blazers a part of their A/W20 collections.

Dramatic Sleeves

We’ve seen statement sleeves for more than one season now but this winter they’re bigger and better than ever. Get ready to leave heads turning because the statement sleeve just got an upgrade. Be it a balloon sleeve or a mutton sleeve, this style is going to get people talking. This trend has the ability to raise the style quotient of any outfit and will add some edge to an otherwise simple outfit.
