MANSHERA:

With drugs a growing menace in society, the government is working on legislation which will prescribe exemplary punishment to drug traffickers and peddlers. This was stated by Federal Minister for Narcotics Control Azam Khan Swati Friday while addressing an awareness seminar on narcotics at the Hazara University. He said that there are several loopholes in the existing laws due to which drug peddlers slip through the cracks. Swati added that everyone has to play their role against drug mafias and help the government take action against them. The minister urged students to concentrate on their studies and materialize dreams of their parents by becoming useful citizens of the country. Earlier, Hazara University Vice-Chancellor Dr Jamil Ahmed said that the increasing trend of drug use in the society was quite alarming, but due to certain social values, it is swept under the carpet. It is our joint responsibility to sensitize the youth about this menace and its adverse effects on their lives. Later Swati planted a sapling in the university.
