A new life brings much happiness but it also comes with a lot of responsibilities. As soon as parents get in the know, the preparations begin. And soon after, they realise that nothing is enough!
If you are expecting a baby soon and don’t quite understand where to start, here are some tips, as compiled from IANS, to help yourself.
- Create comfortable resting spots
Rest is one thing that no mama-to-be should compromise on while pregnant. But lying on the bed all day, no matter how enticing, is not possible.
Place a comfortable and easy-to-use sofa cum bed in the living room instead, or a comfortable balcony set with an ottoman or even a swing in the balcony. These two make for a perfect venue to chill, read, look outdoors, and rest during the day.
- Complete storage needs
A baby not only increases happiness in a home but also storage needs. Extra space is always welcome, no matter how many options you add. The best way to create it is by adding the right furniture pieces which blend with your interiors perfectly.
There are several options that you can opt for, like a chest of drawers, wooden trunks, compact wardrobes, and many more. Be creative and think of the places where you can put these without creating a space crunch.
- Lights and colours
Try to add relaxing wall paintings/art. To make the space brighter, you can also add some amazing lamps to the existing decor. Small planters placed around different corners also work perfectly to make the place more relaxing.
The most important of all, however, is choosing the right colour palette. You choose from shades such as light pastels or greys. These will help to boost your mood as well as the health of the baby.
- Be furniture ready
If you want to give your little one a friendly home setup, the perfect time to start with the preparations is now! First of all, make a list of the necessities: a crib, changing station, food station, etc. So, initially make space for the furniture and after measuring corners precisely, start picking furniture pieces that fit. Placement is extremely important, so ensure that the furniture is placed adjacent to the walls.
- Baby proofing!
Making the home as safe as possible for both, the pregnant mother as well as the little one, is super important. Start with trying to cover any sharp ends on your furniture which you think can be risky.
Get rid of all the loose and exposed wiring as well as switchboards. Avoid placing decor accessories such as small stones, or harmful plastic/rubber figurines, because if misplaced, they can create serious issues and also create choking hazards for your baby!
