Distillery raided, liquor recovered

ISLAMABAD:

A distillery was raided in the Alipur area which led to the recovery of a huge quantity of liquor, wine, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday. As part of efforts to curb bootlegging and drug peddling activities in the city, SP-Investigation Malik Naeem Iqbal constituted a team under the supervision of Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) DSP Hakim Khan and including SI Ishtiaq Hussain, Muhammad Inamullah and others. The team raided a distillery in the Alipur area of Shahzad Town police station and arrested a bootlegger identified as Ghulam Hussain and recovered 180 litres of alcohol and wine. He was booked while further investigations are underway. The DIG has appreciated the performance of the police personnel and directed to take further effective measures against those involved in bootlegging or anti-social activities.
