At least five dead after old mortar shells explode in Nowshera

NOWSHERA:

At least five people were killed and two others injured after old mortar shells reportedly exploded in Nowshera's Akbarpura camp on Tuesday, police officials said.

"A scavenger had picked up old mortar shells from the riverbank, which exploded, causing the incident," said Nowshera DPO Captain (R), Najam Al Hasnain.

Security forces reached the site of the incident and cordoned off the area. The injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital.
