Hikers climb Mushkpuri Top to mark World Tourism Day

By taking care of the environment through sustainable practices, it will help boost the livelihood of the rural community.

This was stated by senior officials of the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) on Sunday at Mushkpuri Top to mark World Tourism Day. The club had organised a hike of the 2,800-metre Mushkpuri Top near Donga Gali to raise awareness about mountain tourism amongst the youth on this year’s theme for the day, the role of tourism in contributing to rural communities.

A large number of young people from different sections of society gathered at the starting point at 11am and trekked to the top of Mushkpuri, enjoying a trek surrounded by flora and fauna.

ACP President Abu Zafar Sadiq and Secretary Karrar Haidri briefed hikers visiting the top about the significance of mountain tourism and the importance of taking care of the environment, which ultimately helps sustain rural communities for their livelihood.

They highlighted the importance of tourism in the modern era as a tool for economic growth, rural development and economic empowerment.

The ACP president assured that they will continue to promote eco-tourism in the country to attract the youth towards healthy activities.
