LAHORE:

Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Basharat Raja has directed all departments to follow instructions of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar to ensure recruitment of visually impaired daily wagers on contract within a month.

The minister expressed these views while presiding over a review meeting in this regard on Friday.

Additional chief secretary and social welfare department secretary were also present in the meeting.

Raja reminded that the chief minister had given a target of recruiting 645 differently-abled daily wagers on a contract basis but up to the present only 319 persons had been hired by the authorities.

The law minister further said that the regularisation of the remaining 326 daily wagers should be conducted soon.

He said it was the priority of the incumbent government to solve all the issues faced by the visually impaired persons.

“Our government is inclusive,” he underscored, adding that the elected representatives are aware of the issues faced by differently-abled individuals and are taking steps to end their miseries.

Representatives of the visually impaired persons were specially invited to the meeting on the instructions of the minister to express their concerns as well as give suggestions to overcome problems experienced by them on a daily basis.
