NAB arrests close associate of JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested former DFO Musa Khan, who is reportedly a close associate of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam -Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman..

According to Express, an inquiry was underway against the former DFO in assets beyond means case. Sources said that the accountability watchdog sent him a questionnaire and as he was on his way to submit his response at the NAB office in Peshawar, he was arrested near Mattani.

The NAB officials have also produced Musa Khan before the accountability court.

The former DFO is a member of the JUI-F Central Council and Amir of Paharpur Tehsil in Dera Ismail Khan, while his eldest son, Tariq Baloch, is the chief personal secretary of the party.

NAB earlier summoned JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman next week in assets beyond means inquiry, according to media reports on Tuesday.

The JUI-F chief had been asked to appear before the additional director of NAB Peshawar on October 1 to answer allegations that he owned assets beyond known sources of income. According to a report, the notice said that Fazl could be arrested if he failed to satisfy the graft buster.

The notice came two days after an all parties conference (APC) of the opposition announced the formation of a new alliance to oust the incumbent government. the conference also sharply criticised NAB.
