IHC irked over allotment of plots despite ban

Tells FGEHA director general to submit report within two weeks

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday expressed displeasure on the allotment of plots in the capital despite a stay order and summoned a detailed report from the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) director general.

A single-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah presided over the case related to compensation to affectees of different sectors.

Justice Minallah observed that the court had barred allotment of plots in the federal capital in October last year until payment of compensation to the last affected person who was displaced due to the establishment of new sectors.

“Who were the persons to whom plots were allotted despite court’s stay order? Give the report to court. Under what authority ministry of housing kept on allotting plots despite court’s orders. No one will be allotted plot unless compensation is paid to affectees. The ban will remain in place unless the last affectee of Islamabad is paid compensation,” the IHC chief justice said.

However, the court issued a written order on Monday, in which it questioned the authorities behind the permission for allotting plots in the capital despite a stay order in effect. It directed the FGEHA director general to submit a report on it in two weeks.
