International journal hails Dr Rehman

International science journal 'Molecules' has announced a special edition recognising that efforts and contributions of renowned Pakistani scientist Dr Attaur Rehman for the advancement of science.

According to the University of Karachi's International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) spokesperson, Molecules is published by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute, a publisher of peer-reviewed, open access journals, affiliated with science societies from across the world.

During his expansive career, Dr Rehman has assisted thousands of scientists from Muslim countries as the coordinator general of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation's Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation and served as the federal science and technology minister. He also has to his credit the launch of Pakistan's first artificial satellite, PAKSAT-1R.

Dr Rehman supervised major fruitful changes in the higher education sector as head of the Higher Education Commission from 2002 to 2008. Currently, he is serving as the chairperson of Prime Minister Imran Khan's Task Force for Science and Technology, vice-chairperson of the PM's task force for boosting economy and co-chairperson of the task force for information technology.

He has authored 1,232 international publications on chemistry and 346 books. He is also the editor of eight European research journals and international scientific encyclopedias.
