TEPA, FDA to devise plan to improve traffic flow

Several depts to be taken on board for cooperation, suggestions

FAISALABAD:

The authorities plan to devise a coordinated strategy to address the traffic woes faced by commuters in the city.

The planning and necessary measures to address the issue by the Traffic Engineering &Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), under the supervision of Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA), would be pursued in collaboration with the departments and agencies concerned, the FDA Chairperson Chaudhry Latif Nazar Gujjar said while chairing a meeting.

FDA Director General (DG) Muhammad Suhail Khawaja, Directors Hasan Zaheer, Asif Niazi, Junaid Hasan, Asma Mohsin and other officers concerned were present in the meeting.

The FDA DG apprised the chairman of the reactivation of TEPA as well as the short-term, mid-term and long-term planning for traffic management, required funds and a summary sent to Punjab government in this regard.

The chairperson stressed the need for evolving a comprehensive long-term plan for traffic management in line with the future requirements as per international standards.

He further said that the metropolitan corporation, traffic police, local transport department, Rescue 1122, education department, health department, roads and other departments concerned would be taken on board for seeking cooperation and suggestions to introduce the ‘new regime’ of traffic management in the city.
