The Senate Standing Committee on planning, development and special initiatives was informed on Thursday that work on six energy projects in Balochistan is underway.
The committee held its meeting at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Agha Shahzeb Durrani.

Officials said that funds could not be allocated for some projects since consultants could not be hired due to administrative issues of concerned departments. Consequently, the projects saw no progress and the funds were returned. However, officials told the committee said that practical work could be started after the tender is awarded for these projects.
In addition to reviewing progress on its previous recommendations, the committee was also given a detailed briefing on the progress made in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SGGs) and ongoing water projects under PSDP in Balochistan.
During the meeting, Chairman Durrani urged the need for effective planning and better strategy for speedy completion of development projects.
He stressed that authorities must expedite work on the development projects ensuring best quality while keeping expenditures under control.
