Blind convicted in kidnapping case

There are medical reports to support his disability

RAWALPINDI:

A visually impaired suspect was awarded 25-year jail term for kidnapping a woman. Additional District and Session Judge Jehangir Gondal announcing verdict of the case of the kidnapping of a woman from the Waris Khan police station remits awarded 25-year-imprisonment to Israr Riaz and acquitted two suspects Adullah and Ilyas. Riaz, as per medical records, lost his sight in 2016, his mother said pointing out that the police station had registered the case on December 29, 2017. The mother of the accused told The Express Tribune that her son had lost his sight in 2016 due to fever and high blood pressure. There are medical reports to support his disability. The woman said she would appeal against the verdict in high court. She further said that her son was implicated in the abduction case over political enmity.
