LAHORE:

At least 10 people passed away in 845 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours. Official record reveals that 966 persons were injured, of whom 379 individuals with minor injuries were treated on the spot by rescue services. The critically injured persons were shifted to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. The majority of the incidents, 68%, involved motorcycles. Data breakdown shows 391 adult drivers, 28 underage drivers, 131 pedestrians, and 454 passengers were among the victims of the road accidents. Out of the total accidents, 179 were reported in Lahore which affected 186 persons. Furthermore, 78 accidents took place in Multan and 75 crashes in Faisalabad. Among the 976 victims of these accidents, 813 were males and 163 females. Age-wise data segregations shows that 185 victims were under 18 years of age, 536 were between the ages of 18 and 40 years and 255 above 40 years of age. The data also highlighted that 775 motorcycles, 107 rickshaws, 83 cars, 28 vans, 22 trucks, eight buses, and 111 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the traffic accidents.
