KARACHI:

The Sindh government has been misguiding people by making false claims about the Karachi Transformation Plan and saying that it was investing Rs800 billion in it, said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Karachi president and MPA Khurram Sher Zaman on Monday.

Stating that 62 per cent of the funds for the Karachi transformation plan would be given by the federal government and 38 per cent by the Sindh government, he asked the provincial government to focus on serving the people instead of misguiding them.

"Politics over the development of Karachi will not be tolerated at any cost," insisted Zaman, adding that the city was facing countless issues because its development had always been hindered by politics.

He maintained that the PTI wanted to resolve the city's issues on a priority basis because the country's economy could only flourish if the city that generated the most revenue prospered.

Zaman further alleged that the politics of the Pakistan Peoples Party were based on lies and would only cause harm to Karachi's citizens. "The infrastructure of the sixth largest city [of the world] has been ruined," he lamented.

He urged the Sindh government to work with the federal government if it was serious about resolving the provincial capital's issues.
