Police nab ‘robber’ in alleged encounter

Kashif was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in police custody

KARACHI:

The Aziz Bhatti police claimed to have arrested a robber following an encounter near Shanti Nagar on Rashid Minhas Road on Saturday night. According to the police, officials patrolling the area had flagged two suspects on a motorcycle while they were attempting a robbery. However, one among them opened fire on police in a bid to flee, they said, adding that a suspect, identified as Kashif Ali, 22, was injured in retaliatory firing. The police said they arrested Kashif and confiscated weapons and stolen items from his possession. Meanwhile, the other suspect fled the scene. Kashif was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in police custody.
