Two women drown in River Chenab, one rescued

Two women drowned to death in Chenab River while one was rescued on Saturday.

A woman who was cutting grass near the bank slipped into the river.

Two other women fell into the river while trying to rescue her. Out of the three, two died, while one was rescued.

The woman was cutting grass near floodwaters in Mouza Fateh Bela area when she fell into the river.

Saima and Maryam died in the incident, while Hajo Mai was saved by rescue personnel.

In an hour-long rescue operation, the bodies of the two women were also recovered from the River Chenab, while Hajo Mai was shifted to Civil Hospital Shujaabad in a critical condition.

The assistant commissioner Shujaabad also supervised the rescue operation
