Throwing litter? Use the car pouch
City Schools, Waste Busters begin anti-litter campaign today.
LAHORE:
The City School Systems and the Waste Busters have launched an anti-litter campaign starting Monday (today). The campaign aims at discouraging drivers from throwing litter on roads.
The students will distribute car pouches, especially designed to store car litter, a handout said. It said that travellers could use these reusable parachute car pouches for stashing away litter such as wrappers, fruits peels, cigarette butts, paper and glass or plastic bottles.
“We hope to bring back the sense of responsibility amongst citizens. Our major target is those who travel in fancy cars, but do not think about keeping roads clean,” Asif Farooki, the Waste Busters chairman said. He said that the campaign was an effort by some students.
The students will begin the campaign from the major commercial centres of the city including the Liberty Market, Barkat Market, Gulberg’s Main Boulevard and the Defence’s Y-Block Market. The campaign will end on August 13 with a ceremony at the Mall of Lahore in Cantt.
Singer Abrarul Haq, tennis star Aisamul Haq and the Lahore division commissioner are expected to attend the ceremony.
