Fawad Chauhdry visits different areas of the village to examine devastation inflicted by flooding and rains

The Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chauhdry on Saturday said the government will not abandon the flood-hit people in their hour of need.

The federal government will work with the provincial government to extend relief activities, he said during his visit to the Pind Dadan Khan an administrative sub-division of Jhelum district within the Rawalpindi division.

Being on the bank of Jhelum River, Pind Dadan Khan saw many villages flooded during heavy monsoon rains when the river had swelled following release of over 100,000 cusecs of water from Tarbela Dam. Chaudhry was in Kandwal village to examine devastation caused by the recent monsoon spell and flooding.

Accompanied by officials of district administration and local PTI leadership, Chaudhry visited different areas of the village to examine devastation inflicted by flooding and rains.

Karachi: flood management and governance

While talking to the media, Chaudhry, a local of Jhelum, said that more than 100 houses had collapsed after rains in Kandwal village while a youngster had died too.

He demanded that Chief Minister Usman Buzdar should visit the affected area and announce a relief package for it.

He said the Kandwal village has unique distinction that ever family of the village has people serving in Pakistan Army and it was a land of martyrs.
