A newly surfaced video captured the dramatic moment when an “anxious” Alaska Airlines passenger opened an emergency exit and climbed onto the plane’s wing, just feet away from unaware airport workers in Washington state.

The incident occurred shortly after Flight 323 from Milwaukee landed on the tarmac and arrived at the gate at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around 5 p.m. on Dec. 22, when the woman opened the emergency exit door.

In footage obtained by KIRO 7, the passenger, wearing what appeared to be a red shirt and dark pants, was seen with her backpack walking to the edge of the wing near the windows. She looked down, waved her hands in the air, and stood on the wing.

Two operations crew members walking nearby seemed unaware of the passenger on the wing.

At least two baggage carts passed by her without stopping or noticing the unusual situation.

The woman remained on the wing for approximately a minute before two food service workers in a catering vehicle spotted her.

It took about 90 seconds for someone inside the aircraft to check the situation by poking their head out, and six minutes before an individual cautiously stepped onto the wing to communicate with her.

The passenger sat on the wing for roughly 11 minutes and 30 seconds before firefighters arrived and used a ladder to assist her in getting off the wing.

A series of police cars and authorized vehicles had gathered at the scene by the time she was back on the ground.

A spokesperson for the Port of Seattle told KIRO 7 that the woman had “become anxious” during the deplaning process.

According to the outlet, a police crisis team determined that the woman needed to undergo a medical evaluation.

Alaska Airlines confirmed to the news station that the event involved a “disruptive guest” and was resolved without incident.

“We are working with our crew and airport officials to gather more details about what may have transpired,” the airline told KIRO 7. “We thank our employees for their swift response and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our guests.”
