NAB raids irrigation minister's house

NAB team also measured Siyal’s Faridabad residence, finding encroachment on government land

A National Accountability Bureau team raided the residences of provincial irrigation minister Sohail Anwar Siyal and his close aide Asad Kharal in Larkana district on Wednesday.

The team, led by investigation officer Mujtaba Khan and accompanied by female officers, reportedly took away some documents from Siyal’s house. The minister was not present at his residence in Faridabad at the time of the raid, while another of his residences was also searched.

The NAB team also measured Siyal’s Faridabad residence, finding encroachment on government land.

Later talking to the media, the minister termed NAB’s raids as an act of political victimisation while he was supervising floodwater drainage efforts in Mirpurkhas district.

“NAB unnecessarily raided a place that belongs to my deceased father,” he stated, adding that the said property was registered with the Federal Board of Revenue. He claimed the NAB team did not take any documents from the house.

Siyal’s brother Tariq reiterated while talking to the media in Larkana that the NAB did not find anything there that could implicate his brother or anyone else. “If the NAB had found any incriminating evidence, they would not have left without arresting someone.”
