ISLAMABAD:

The apex civic authority of the federal capital on Monday decided to expedite work on family suites at the Parliament Lodges. This was directed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman and Islamabad Capital Territory Administration Chief Commissioner Aamer Ali Ahmed on Monday.

Chairing a high-level meeting of the authority at its headquarters on Monday, Ahmed reviewed long-pending projects, including the construction of the 104 family suites at the lodges.

He directed to use all available resources to complete the project, which has been pending since 2013.

Officials said that a consultant is expected to conduct an assessment of the remaining work and submit their report within a few days. The submission of the report will be followed by the initiation of the tendering process.

Stressing on the importance of effective monitoring of the project to ensure the quality of work, Ahmed directed that the consultant should immediately submit a report on the remaining work on the suites while the tendering process for remaining work should follow quickly.

Last month, the authority had told the Senate House Committee that the process for appointing a consultant for the construction of the family suites in the Parliament Lodges was expected to be completed by August 5.

CDA was further asked to share details of the project and the work required with the federal planning commission so that it can start the process of releasing the necessary funds. Any extensions required for any phase of the project may also be sought from the commission.
