RAWALPINDI:

The District Market Committee (DMC) has served a notice to the food department for not clearing its dues worth over Rs1 million, The Express Tribune learnt on Monday.

DMC Chairperson Chaudhry Imtiaz said that with the dues unpaid for a long time, they have now started action against all such defaulters for recovery. Imtiaz added that they will award a contract for the distribution system of price lists for at least Rs500,000.

He added that the DMC was obligated to prepare the official rate list but its implementation was the responsibility of the district administration.

He said they were developing a mechanism with the help of DC Anwarul Haq to ensure implementation of the official rates in the markets.
