The 9th of Muharram is being observed throughout the country with due solemnity and sanctity as strict security measures have been taken particularly on the routes of processions to avoid any untoward incident.
Muharram is the month of mourning for the seventh-century martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Mobile networks have also been suspended in sensitive areas across the country to ensure the fool-proof security as country has seen a raft of attacks at imambargahs and processions in the past.
Muharram processions are being taken out in different parts of the country in memory of martyrs of Karbala which are heading towards their respective destinations.
Ulema and Zakireen are shedding light on the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his great companions.
In Islamabad, the main procession of Muharram taken out from Markazi Imambargah G-6/2 is heading on its route and will terminate at the same place, reported Radio Pakistan.
LAHORE
In Lahore, the main procession of 9th Muharram was taken out from Pando Street, Islampura which after passing through different areas including Khaima-e-Saadat will finish at starting point in the evening.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has ordered strict action against those involved in hate speeches.
CM Buzdar reached Civil Secretariat and visited Control Room established to monitor Muharram procession and Majalis. He was briefed by additional chief secretary home about the steps taken to ensure law and order.
KARACHI
In Karachi, processions of 9th Muharram were taken out from various parts of the city while the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park Karachi this afternoon is passing through its traditional route and will conclude at Imambargah-e-Iranian Hussaini at Maghrib time.

HYDERABAD
In Hyderabad, the central procession started from Qadam Gah Moula Ali (Razi Allah Tala Anho) and will be culminated at Karbala Dadan Shah in the evening.
PESHAWAR
In Peshawar, the main procession taken out this morning from Imambargah Hussainia Hall, Saddar Road is heading on its tradition routes in the city.
Stringent security arrangements have been made to avoid any untoward incident during the mourning processions.
Special traffic plan for the processions of 9th of Muharram has also been chalked out.
