Man kills one, injures two over daughter's marriage

A man, accompanied by his brother-in-law, killed one and injured two others in Gulistan-e-Johar on Tuesday, reportedly in retaliation for his daughter's marriage of choice.

Javed and his brother-in-law Shahbaz broke into Asghar's residence in Hussain Hazara Goth after the latter's son, Zafar Ali, tied the knot with Javed's daughter, Savaira, in a court marriage, according to Gulistan-e-Johar SHO Inayatullah Marwat.

Using a dagger and a gun, Javed and Shahbaz killed Asghar, 55, and injured his wife, said the police. Twenty-year-old Savaira's father and uncle also inflicted injuries on her before fleeing the scene, the police added.

After conducting raids in search of the perpetrators, the police arrested Javed and Shahbaz later the same day and seized the weapons in their possession, confirmed Marwat.

The slain man and the two injured women were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.
