Many cities in Balochistan including the provincial capital Quetta received heavy downpour on Tuesday as the second spell of monsoon began in the province causing damages to crops and infrastructure.
The torrential rain in Quetta has turned the weather chilly which decreased the severity of the scorching heat in the city.
Many citizens were seen rushing toward picnic points in order to enjoy the pleasant weather with their families.
However, the downtrodden sewerage system in Quetta city has caused hardship for citizens after simmering sewerage water flooded many streets.
Sibi, Harnai, Mastung, Bolan received heavy rain with thunderstorms whereas Quetta National Highway at Ziarat and Harnai apart from highways connecting Balochistan with Punjab were damaged due to flash floods.
Similiarly, a heavy downpour in Kalat, Mastung and Bolan have also caused rivers and canals to flood.
It is pertinent to mention that heavy rains in Dera Allah Yar and surrounding areas have inundated low-lying areas but the intensity of the heat has decreased after rain.
Roads and streets have been flooded with sewage water while vehicles and motorbikes were seen floating on the roads.
Despite Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal’s notice, the drainage system of Hub city is yet to be improved.
