A young man, who owns a shopping bag business, reportedly staged his own kidnapping to retrieve Rs100,000 from his family to pay off his debt.
Police found the youth from Khanewal with the help of modern technology and handed him over to his family. During interrogation, the man revealed that he was being harassed by three people who had given him a loan of Rs100,000. They were demanding payment of the money.
To end his misery, Nadeem, son of Aslam, a resident of Noorpur , Satiana Road, faked his own kidnapping to force his family to pay off his loan.
On August 18, Naveed left his home, switched off his mobile phone and bought a new SIM card from Lorry Ada. Later he used the new SIM card to call his family with a changed voice, demanding ransom for his release from kidnappers.
Naveed's brother Khurram Shehzad informed the Saddar police about the call from kidnappers seeking ransom for the release of his brother.
SHO Abid Hussain Jutt registered a case of abduction. The police used modern technology to locate Nadeem through the mobile phone signals.
Once recovered, Nadeem, was presented in a court and later handed over to his family.
