Charred body found in Thikriwala

Initial police investigation suggests the victim was murdered and then set on fire

FAISALABAD:

Unidentified assailants killed a man and set him on fire in the Thikriwala area on Sunday. As a result, the victim’s body was charred completely.

Passersby spotted the burnt body and informed the police which arrived on the spot to investigate the murder. Police said they found the charred body of the middle aged victim in bushes near Chak No 78JB Judi stop, an area which falls under the jurisdiction of Thikriwala police station.

They took the body into custody and transported it to a hospital for postmortem examination.

Thikriwala Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Zafar Iqbal Ora said a search is underway to arrest the killers.

It may be recalled that earlier a youth was also killed and his corpse was set on fire in a forest. The incident was reported in Jaranwala area in City Police Station limits.

Jaranwala police had registered a case against unidentified killers, but to date no arrests have been made in connection with the case.

CPO Sohail Chaudhry told The Express Tribune that efforts are underway to identify the victims and arrest the accused in both the cases.
