‘1,787 arrests in 5 months in Shikarpur’

As district police issues a five-month report

SHIKARPUR:

The Shikarpur police claimed on Sunday that it had engaged in 64 encounters over the past five months, during which it recovered 20 abducted persons and arrested 128 criminals, 1,009 proclaimed offenders and 650 wanted criminals.

This was stated in a five-month report issued by the district police on the day.

The report further mentioned that the district police foiled multiple smuggling bids in the five-month period, confiscating 129 kilogrammes (kg) of hashish, 40kg of opium and 13,010 litres of Iranian petrol, as well as illegal weapons including four Kalashnikovs, 11 guns, 68 pistols, three repeater guns and one G3 rifle, besides large quantities of ammunition.

In the report, the police also claimed to have recovered 143 snatched motorcycles.
