House illegally allotted to IGP, SC told
The house allotted to the top cop of the federal capital was done so illegally while cops continue to illegally occupy as many as 200 quarters in the city.
This was disclosed as a three-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC), led Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed and comprising Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Qazi Amin Ahmed, heard a suo moto notice case about the illegal allotments of government residences.
During Friday’s hearing, the counsel for the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said that a house also allotted to the Inspector General of Islamabad Police was done so illegally.
To make matters worse, the lawyer argued that personnel of the Islamabad Police continue to occupy as many as 200 quarters of the civic authority. The lawyer further told the court that the civic authority had held talks with the police but the police were not ready to give up possession of the quarters.
At this, CJ Ahmed said that the court will also look into the case of the police at the next hearing. Meanwhile, the Additional Attorney General told the top court that only four government residences in Islamabad remain under illegal occupation.
