‘Double-decker bus to boost tourism’

Mehmood said project may be replicated in other major cities of the province as well

RAWALPINDI:

The new double-decker tourist bus, which underwent a trial in the city the other day, will be housed at the Allama Iqbal Park in the Shamsabad area of the city.

This was disclosed on Saturday by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Chairman Asif Mehmood.

Stating that the service said is all set to be launched in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, the PHA chief hoped it will boost tourism in the region.

As a trial, it hauled the tourists and some journalists on Saturday from Allama Iqbal Park to different spots in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Once the experiment proves successful in the twin cities, Mehmood said that it will be replicated in other major cities of the province as well.

Moreover, he said that each of these modern double-decker buses has a capacity of accommodating 40 passengers in a single trip. The main terminal of the bus will be Allama Iqbal Park at Shamsabad.
