Omar Nafees bags PNCA’s short film award

Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) has announced its short film competition results

ISLAMABAD:

The Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) on Saturday announced the results for a short film competition in which Omar Nafees’ Phurr was deemed to have been best of the lot.

The contest was centred around the theme of Independence Day. Contestants from across the country had sent in entries reflecting various aspects of the diverse Pakistani culture.

Apart from Nafees, Ahmad Abbas secured the second position for his film titled Wafa us ki, and

Zaheer Zaufran secured the third position for his video “Yeh mera Pakistan”.

Filmmaker and critic Aijaz Gul spoke about the selection process for the competition and provided tips to the young award holders regarding editing and content selection.

Master puppeteer Farooq Qaiser appreciated the craft of young filmmakers. He briefly described the importance of films as an effective medium of communication and how the nascent filmmakers could improve the power of expression keeping in view the fundamentals. PNCA Director General Dr Fouzia Saeed stressed the importance of creativity at both, the individual and collective level.
