The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced on Wednesday that it would move a petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) against the appointment of Ziaur Rehman, younger brother of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, in Sindh.

Zia was appointed as the Central deputy commissioner by the provincial government.

“Consultations with lawyers are underway, and we will file a petition in the SHC in the next couple of days,” said PTI parliamentary leader of the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh.

He maintained that the Sindh government had requested to transfer the services of Zia in January but now was refusing to send him back to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) despite the federal government’s decision.

The Centre had transferred Zia’s services back to K-P after backlash from Sindh’s opposition parties.
