On National Minorities Day, Alvi reaffirms minorities will be treated, respected equally

Shibli Faraz says minorities are playing an important role in the development of the country

To honour the sacrifices of religious minorities in the country, President Dr Arif Alvi, on National Minorities Day reaffirmed that all communities residing in Pakistan will be treated and respected equally.

The president said today is a day of special significance in the history of Pakistan and the country renewes its commitment of tolerance for the minorities.

He said the founder of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, in his historic speech standing before the Constituent Assembly on August 11, 1947, promised to safeguard the rights of minorities.

Alvi said minorities have rendered countless sacrifices for the construction and development of Pakistan, adding that members of the minority communities are playing a key role in the country's development, including in the field of education and medicine.

The president reiterated Pakistan's commitment to refrain from discriminating against minorities and to maintain an atmosphere of tolereance and brotherhood within the country.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said the minorities are playing an important role in the development of the country.

The minister said without the welfare of minorities, the dream of the state of Medina will remain unfulfilled, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying to make that dream a reality.
