Woman kills husband, injures herself

A woman allegedly killed her husband before shooting herself at their home in Johar Town in the early hours of Saturday.

As per details available with The Express Tribune, Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Revenue Deputy Director Shahid Hafeez was shot dead at his residence after Shehla, the victim’s wife opened fire, killing him on the spot.

Police said the suspect sustained injuries and was under treatment at Jinnah Hospital.

The couple reportedly had developed differences after Shehla hurled allegations on Shahid of having extramarital affairs. The couple would quarrel with each other often over the matter, officials added.

On the morning of the incident, they had another heated argument at their residence.

Due to the latest dispute, Shehla, in a fit of rage, shot at Shahid multiple times. The victim sustained serious bullet injuries and was killed on the spot.

Police further said the alleged murderer was now in their custody as the brother of the victim filed a complaint against his sister-in-law.

This is not the only incident of murder in the provincial capital.

On May 2, Sanda Investigations police arrested a man named Zahid Mahmood who killed his friend Abbas Ali alias Jagnu over a monetary dispute. Abbas had rented a house separately from his wife and children where he and Zahid would reportedly consume illicit substances.
