‘Opposition parties’ visit to AJK reflects all unanimous on Kashmir issue’

MUZAFFARABAD:

A parliamentary delegation led by Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif called on AJK President Sardar Masood Khan on Friday and expressed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) struggling for their freedom and right to self-determination.

Former PPP prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and JUI-F MNA Asad Mehmood were also part of the delegation.

Addressing the media after the meeting, President Masood thanked members of the delegation for visiting Muzaffarabad and expressing solidarity with the people of IIOJK.

He said that the visit of the Pakistan’s opposition parties would not only reinvigorate efforts for the unity and solidarity in the country but it would also send a very positive message to the besieged Kashmiri people on the other side of the Line of Control (LoC).

The recent address of Prime Minister Imran Khan to the AJK legislative assembly and visit of the opposition leader conveyed a message of solidarity both the opposition and the government are unanimous in extending support to the people of Kashmir.

The AJK president expressed satisfaction that the political forces of the country are on the same page on the issue of Kashmir.

The people of Kashmir, he said, will continue their struggle until they achieve their inalienable right to self-determination. “The day is not far off when their heroic struggle will crown with the success and their sacrifices will bear the fruit.”

President Masood also expressed his deep gratitude to other political parties of Pakistan who have always made Kashmir issue a rallying point.

Shehbaz, who is also president of the PML-N, said that all political forces of the country are united on the issue of Kashmir. He assured that 220 million people of Pakistan stand by their Kashmiri brethren and they are ready to offer all kind of sacrifices to make the Kashmir’s liberation movement a success.

Paying glowing tributes to the people of occupied valley for their courageous struggle, Shehbaz said that the history of Kashmir is full of sacrifices. “The people of Occupied Kashmir have been waging an epoch-making struggle for more than 70 years. People of Pakistan consider brethren in IIOJK as part of their body and soul.”

Earlier, in a meeting with the AJK president, Ashraf said his party PPP has a long association with Kashmir and previous governments of the party had raised the voice of Kashmiri people all over the world and had kept the nation together on the issue.

MNA Asad said that his party has the honour of chairing parliamentary Kashmir Committee in the governments of PPP and the PML-N and effectively highlighting the Kashmir issue at the national and international levels.
