187 North Waziristan madrassahs registered

Seminaries teaching Wafaqul Madaris syllabus

To bring madrassahs in the newly merged tribal districts into the mainstream, as many as 187 seminaries in North Waziristan tribal district were registered with the Wafaqul Madaris.

A report in this regard was submitted to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly on Tuesday. The syllabus of the Wafaqul Madaris is being taught at these madrassas, the report added. The report stated at least 99 madrassas have been provided with 102 teachers in various cadres. Teachers will be posted at the remaining seminaries soon. Further, measures have been taken to enhance the capacities of their faculties.

The report stated that efforts were underway to register all madrassas in the merged tribal areas with the Wafaqul Madaris.

Meanwhile, the provincial assembly was informed that Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation (PEDO) was producing 155.2 megawatts (MW) of power from six units. The Malakand-III is generating 81MW, Daral 36.6MW, Pehur Swabi 18 MW, Ranoiya Kohistan 17MW, Machai Mardan 2.6MW and Sheshai Chitral is producing 1.8 MW.

The electricity generated at Sheshai Chitral has been provided to the locals of Darosh valley while the rest of the power has been provided to the national grid.
