ISLAMABAD:

The Supreme Court on Monday expressed its displeasure over the delays by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government in filing cases. A two-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC), headed by the Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, heard the case regarding employment of Muhammad Hassan from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). During Monday’s hearing, CJ Ahmed asked what is the reason for filing the case after a delay of 45 days. He further continued that the most overdue cases come from K-P. “Are they deliberately delayed?” CJ Ahmed asked. The court is of the considered view that the law committee formed by the chief minister should be reviewed. At this, the additional advocate general told the court that the law committee is being headed by the chief minister himself. He continued that after the formation of the committee, cases are being filed promptly, adding that there are delays only in old cases. Justice Ijazul Ahsan remarked that the chief justice believes that K-P deliberately delays cases.
