Cop among three caught looting houses

Three suspects, including an on-duty police official, allegedly involved in robbing houses were arrested by the Sachal police on Friday.

Police uniforms, weapons, fake number plates, cash and other items were confiscated from their possession.

Station investigation officer (SIO) Zulfiqar told The Express Tribune that the arrested police official, identified as Wasif, scoped houses for robberies after which he along with his accomplices, Tahir Ahmed and Rashid, would loot them. Wasif was reportedly deputed at the Sachal police station.

According to Zulfiqar, the suspects would enter houses in police uniform, claiming to be carrying out raids, and would then rob them.

The SIO further stated that the police had acquired CCTV footage of the robberies in which the suspects could be seen arriving in a car and then fleeing after looting the houses.
