To ensure social distancing to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), the Rawalpindi administration has banned the conduct of traditional fares which are held in the rural areas of the Rawalpindi division on festive occasions such as Eidul Azha.
Besides slapping a ban on mass gatherings at these festivals, Rawalpindi Chief Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood has also banned swings and rides.
These ramshackle rides, which the entertainers operate at village fares, can cause serious injuries, he noted. during a meeting held to review security arrangements on Eidul Azha.

Chairing a meeting to review the overall arrangements and security arrangements on Eidul Azha on the religious occasion, he directed officials to ensure that cattle markets are not established at any site other than those designated. The commissioner further instructed officers to visit the markets and ensure the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Further, the commissioner directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) to carry out an effective cleanliness drive on the religious occasion to prevent the outbreak of diseases.
