Buyers rush increases in Quetta cattle markets

With only one day left in Eidul Azha, Quetta cattle markets witnessed a significant rush of buyers in search of sacrificial animals.

Purchasing beautiful, attractive and weighty animals is the desire of every buyer but traders try their best to avail the highest margin of profits.

Traders from far-flung areas alleged that fodder is being sold at high prices in the market. “We work on our animals all year round and we will not accept low rates for them,” said one trader.

As Eidul Azha keeps getting closer, buyers search for cheap but good animals due to which the bustle in the market has also increased.

Traders also complained that ATMs were not set up in cattle markets which caused a lot of problems.

It is pertinent to mention that seven cattle markets are set up in the city by the district administration.

With just a day left for Eid, large-scale purchases were made in the city and people continued to shop in the markets till late evening, ignoring all the SOPs laid out by the government. There was no social distancing observed inside shops or anywhere in the markets.

The provincial government had announced a three-day respite in the lockdown from Tuesday, as shops in Quetta remained open till 10 pm. The movement of transport was halted due to heavy traffic jams in different parts of the city.
