ISLAMABAD:

In a gradual return to normalcy, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Thursday decided to partially resume its operation for Britain from August 14, allowing passengers to travel directly between Pakistan and London, Manchester and Birmingham.

With the spread of coronavirus ebbing in the country, the airlines had also decided to return to normal office timings and restart the attendance of the staff through the biometric system, which was suspended on March 13, a spokesman said.

The PIA spokesman said that the flights schedule for the UK would be announced immediately after Eidul Azha. Other airlines raised fares dramatically following the suspension of PIA flights but after the resumption of national flag carrier’s operations, the fares were expected to return to normal.

The spokesperson said that after reduction in coronavirus cases, the timings of the PIA employee had been changed. “The suspended biometric system will be activated from August 1. Now PIA employees will be on duty from 9 am to 5:30 pm.
