Anti-locust drive underway at airport

The Jinnah International Airport administration launched on Wednesday a pesticide spraying drive to keep locusts at bay. As part of the exercise, boarding bridges and areas in the surroundings of the airport were fumigated on emergency basis, while runways, cargo areas and lounges were also sprayed with pesticides. According to the airport administration, locusts pose a threat to flight safety. Moreover, the officials stated, efforts were also being made to keep areas near the airport clear of birds and nine birds had been shot down as part of the measure.
